Applications for the MEdT program are accepted for Fall admission only.
Who Can Apply
Applicants to the MEdT Program seek to earn a teaching license at the elementary (K-6) or secondary levels (7-12) and engage in a program of research and inquiry consistent with a graduate degree. At the secondary level the program only accepts candidates interested in teaching English (Language Arts), Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies.
Application to the MEdT program is open to candidates with an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in a field other than education.
Applicants need to have a commitment to becoming a highly qualified educator, but need no previous teaching experience before applying.
Applicants must be willing to live on Oahu as this program is not offered on any other islands at this time and is not an online program.
Applicants must be willing to complete their field component in a public school anywhere on Oahu and to cover all transportation costs to the school sites. Applicants cannot choose the location or grade level of their placements for the field component but are assigned placements by the program leadership or the DOE personnel office.
