What are the educational foundations?
The Foundations of Education are a group of studies that attempt to explain education. They explore both the educational process and the institutions sponsoring it. Their unique function is to interpret educational arrangements and practice. They can also be understood as addressing the context of education. They examine education against a background of, or in relation to, other institutions, or in terms of its evolution, or its enduring presuppositions. Foundations is concerned with deliberately perceiving education from a different and wider frame of reference than the sequence of particular classroom events. The result is an expanded context grown broader from the relating of these events to others, or deeper from relating them to their logical or historical grounds (From Foundations of Education: The What and the Why. Dr. Mary Anne Raywid).
